Lampl - The Echo Of God's Laughter

from The Lord of the Rings by UPEI Wind Symphony

/

about

It was the composer's intent to create a piece of music which could be experienced like the natural phenomena of a sunset or the ocean's tide, but through the world of sound. Echo's glacial pace is a sound world meditation rather than thematic development of musical motives. The structure of the work is a mensuration canon. A canonic theme which resolves at ever-expanding rhythmic values throughout the ensemble results in beautiful, ethereal harmonies which are the byproducts of the perpetually evolving musical layers.
