"Music for Prague 1968" was commissioned by the Ithaca College Concert Band. Wile Husa was writing the work, the superpower Soviet Union misguidedly invaded his native and sovereign country of Czechoslovakia, oppressing its people. Husk's program notes state that he chose the Hussite war song from the 15th century, "Ye Warriors of God and His Law," a song that is a symbol of resistance of the Czech nation, as the main theme of the work.
