Gillingham - Concertino for Four Percussion

from Kokopelli's Dance by UPEI Wind Symphony

/

about

Two thematic motives are used as a point go departure for this work. Both appear in the slow and mysterious introduction. The first, played by marimbas, is dramatic, while the second, played by vibraphone and bells, is haunting. The Allegro, which follows, develops both themes interspersed by episodic sections. A dramatic tour de force statement of the first theme by the brass brings this work to a resounding conclusion.
